Color Week
What have we been up to lately? Lots of fun science activities! This week we studied colors and did some fun color mixing experiments. We mixed different colors of paint, water, and play-doh- but the students liked mixing different colors of whipped cream the best! We also read some great books about colors- our favorites were Mouse Paint and White Rabbit's Color Book.

Learning the Alphabet
Each day in kindergarten, we spend time working on the alphabet. We read our alphabet chart together every day to practice the letters. We also read a poem about our letter of the day. The students love to find our letter of the day in the poem, and circle that letter with wikki stix.
We have also been making our own alphabet book, which we will bring home once we have covered every letter in the alphabet. Each day we make a page in our alphabet book for the letter of the day, by decorating the letter with something that begins with that letter. For example, on the day we studied the letter B, we glued blue paper onto our letter B's. On the day we studied the letter C, we glued cotton balls onto our letter C's. When we studied the letter D, we decorated our D's with dots using our dotters. It is lots of messy fun to make our alphabet books!
We talk about the name of the letter, the sound the letter makes, and how to correctly write both the capital and lowercase forms of the letter we are studying that day. We practice writing the letter of the day on our handwriting page. We also enjoy thinking of words we know that start with our letter of the day.
School Bus Safety Week
Last week, during our school bus safety week, we learned all about the rules you should follow when riding the bus. We also read some great bus themed books, like: The Wheels on the Bus, The Seals on the Bus, The Babies on the Bus, and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. We made school bus glasses and a school bus art project too! What a fun week!
